Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins

 

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water--best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

Warren Buffett’s Prostate Cancer May Be Reversible With Diet


Billionaire business magnate and philanthropist Warren Buffett is planning to start radiation treatments this summer for early stage prostate cancer. Pioneering new research suggests that such cancers can be treated and even reversed with a plant-based diet and other healthy lifestyle changes.
Everyone reading this, right now, has mutated cells within them with the potential to progress to cancer, but one cancer cell never hurt anyone. Two cancer cells never hurt anyone. A billion cancer cells? Well, then you start getting into trouble. So we have to slow down and reverse the replication and growth of cancer cells. We all have cells that could grow into tumors. We have to slow these cells down, so that our immune systems can clean them up before they spell trouble.
Take breast cancer, for example. Like all cancer, it starts with one cell, which divides and becomes two cells, then becomes 4, then 8. Every time the cells divide, the tiny tumor doubles in size. Thanks to the mathematics of exponential growth, all it has to do is double about 30 times and we’re up to a billion cells. 2, 4, 8, 16–do that 30 times and you’re up to a billion, which is a tumor just large enough to be picked up by mammography. All it has to do is double thirty times–but it takes between 25 days and a thousand days for cancer cells to double once. So from the time that first cell gets mutated, it takes between 2 years and 100 years before it actually shows up as a little tumor you can see or feel.
The skin cancer we die of at 50 may have well been because of a teenage sunburn. Many breast cancers start in the teen years as well. In fact, some breast cancer may actually start in utero, before you’re even born, and depend in part on what your mom ate! The shortest known interval between the initial mutation and a cancer diagnosis is 18 months, which is when the first leukemia cases started showing up after Hiroshima. But for most solid tumors (meaning non-blood cancers), cancer takes decades to develop. So we may have time to stop and reverse it.  This is what’s called the promotion stage of cancer. The cancer has been initiated (typically by a DNA mutation), but if we don’t promote it, if we keep it dormant, if we slow it down, we may even be able to reverse its growth.
As I lay out in my video Slowing the Growth of Cancer, autopsy studies in Japan show that they have just as much prostate cancer as Americans do. But death from prostate cancer is only about a fifth what it is here (until they emigrate and start eating like us). Japan has the #1 longest life expectancy of any nation (the U.S. falls around 19th). When Japanese men finally do die, though, many have tiny prostate tumors. In Japan, most men die with their tumors instead of ­from their tumors.

By age 80, the majority of men everywhere have tiny cancerous prostate tumors. 6 Ways to Slash Colon Cancer Risk


Colon cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancers. Making some simple dietary and lifestyle changes can cut your risk in half. Here’s how:

1. Eat more vegetables. We know we should eat more veggies. Research shows that eating more vegetables can cut a person’s risk of colon cancer in half. Eat a daily salad, a homemade vegetable soup, or add steamed or sauteed veggies to your main dish. Better yet, make vegetables the main course and meat the side dish.

2. Avoid foods high in saturated fats and nitrates. That includes processed luncheon meats, bacon, cold cuts, hot dogs, and sausage. The saturated fat is linked to inflammation while the nitrates they contain are known carcinogens.

3. Choose chicken (or turkey or Brazil nuts). According to a study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, eating lean chicken several times a week decreases a person’s chances of developing precancerous polyps in the colon by 21% and the risk of malignant tumors by 39%. Researchers believe the mineral selenium may be to thank. Looking for vegetarian sources of selenium, choose Brazil nuts, which are one of the best sources of this mineral. Brown rice and walnuts are also good sources of selenium.

4. Eat more magnesium. Research shows that magnesium can cut the risk of colon cancer by 41% yet experts estimate that 80% of North Americans are deficient in this critical mineral. Some excellent sources include: raw almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, figs, alfalfa sprouts, and dark leafy greens.

5. Eat more fiber. Beans and whole grains are among the best sources of fiber. Fiber helps keep your bowels moving and that means toxins too. Fiber helps bind toxic matter in the colon and escorts it out of your body. Add a handful of beans to soup, stew, salad, or add tomato sauce to beans and enjoy. Strive for at least one-half cup of beans daily.

6. Spice up your life with curries. One of the key ingredients in many curries—turmeric—contains a compound called curcumin which has been shown to reduce the risk of colon cancer by 25%. What’s more: scientists at the University of Chicago found that curcumin destroys H. pylori, a harmful bacteria that is linked to ulcers and colon cancer. Sprinkle turmeric on your veggies or meat dishes, or add to soups and stews. There are also many delicious curry recipes you can try. Be sure they contain turmeric.

What Causes Cancer

Cancer is not nature, it is a man made disease... and for the most part, completely preventable.

There is no one single cause of any disease. We can only talk about cofactors, causative agents and life situations that like peaces of puzzle comes together and promote disease of cancer. There are hundreds of cofactors and causative agents that each have casual relationship to poor immunity, poor health, accumulation of toxins inside body, poor thoughts and each one have been mistakenly called cause of cancer.

Most important cofactors are lack of knowledge, poor thoughts, lack of consciousness, lifestyle, diet, exposure to toxins, life situations... We are only able to recognize the largest pieces of this puzzle, while some smaller pieces, that all together may cover an area as big as that area covered by the large pieces of the cancer puzzle, often stay unrecognizable. Our body, mind and spirit are one with our environment. Anything that disturbs balance inside our body, mind, spirit, or our relationship with environment promotes cancer.

After pausing a few seconds, she said slowly, “I’m not kidding you. I really cannot stand it.”

In less than a month, she died in a specialist hospital. She was only 40 years old. Her breast cancer had reached the fourth stage.

Human are driving to his own doom. In today society, money make the world go round. No one really care much about your health. As long as it make money, chemicals are poured into our products, food are processed or genetically-modified.

Thanks to human evolution, we bring cancer to ourselves. And the sad new is many of us are not aware of the DANGER we face everyday! How would one know that the nature plant food like corn and beverage like soy milk are genetically-modified. And there is A LOT more processed food then we thought! We're totally ignorant of the harmful chemicals all around us. Below is an example of a day in contact with all sort of carcinogen and chemicals:

• Taking a bath with carcinogen chemicals in shampoo, facial and body cleanser
• We brush our teeth with fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride is a toxin!
• You put on cosmetics which contained lots of harmful chemicals
• During breakfast you eat processed food (a lot of food is processed including rice, bread, milk)
• The water you drink from your tap is full of chemicals, toxins and impurities
• On your way to work, you're taking in carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides etc
• You're taking in tobacco smoke from the smoker walking in front of you (or you smoke)
• During lunch you take in unhealthy food (most food sold outside contained MSG)
• You took canned drink which contained BPA
• The polycarbonate plastic water dispenser in your office leach BPA
• Even if you bring home cooked food, plastic food container leak BPA
• You went shopping during lunch time, the ink on most receipt contained BPA
• Working indoor you're constantly exposed to radiation from computer screen
• Working outdoor you're constantly exposed to ultraviolet rays
• Depending on your job, you may be exposed to more carcinogen chemicals (e.g. painter)
• During dinner you take in unhealthy / processed food again
• Even if you cook, vegetable contained pesticides, meat contained growth hormones, antibiotics
• After dinner or during weekend you went drinking, barbecue, etc
• You sleep late (toxins build up)

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.

He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.

You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
